Belts & Hoses Warning Signs of Trouble

When you bring your car in for maintenance and oil changes, mechanics should also check your belts and hoses. These are responsible for carrying fluids and charges to several different components of your engine, electrical systems, cooling, and more. Your vehicle has a series of belts, including the timing belt and serpentine belts. These are responsible for maintaining your engine and steering. If either of these crack or split, your engine may overheat, and you could lose your power steering.

Coolant hoses may also crack, leak, or grow soft. When this happens, you may notice that your cabin is not as cool due to a lack of antifreeze. If there is a leak in the hose, other components in your engine may also suffer from degradation and further damage. Most mechanics recommend that your car get a tune-up and belt check every 3,000 miles.

Extreme heat exposure and cold weather can cause serious problems for these components as well. If you notice any vibrations, strange noises, or overheating, it’s time to bring your car to Land Rover Roaring Fork and get a quick service check-up. Our mechanics can provide a quick diagnostic.
